Rhubarb Games will be closing its doors.
“it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” - Charles Dickens
After serious consideration over the past many months, it is with great sorrow we must close our doors.
We at Rhubarb Games would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our customers and volunteers who have supported us over the years. We are truly honored to have built a community where so many good times and friendships were forged. For many, Rhubarb Games was like a second home. Without all of you, Rhubarb Games would not have been what it was and would not have survived as long as it had.
As most of us have been trying to cope with our own financial struggles we have been feeling the pain as well. Operating expenses and product costs have increased, while sales have continued to fall. It has been increasingly difficult to compete with online sales and it has been no small challenge to rise above the economic mess. At the rate at which so many people have become unemployed or have had to curtail spending for their hobby, we are quite surprised to have lasted as long as we have. In the end, the responsibility for getting through those challenges lies with us and while our passion for gaming has not waned, our limited personal time and resources were not enough to over come these obstacles.
Our last day of operations will be August 28th and between now and then, there will be some dates that everyone should be aware about. We want to do our best to make sure any outstanding orders are taken care of as well as any outstanding gift certificates.
- July 27th – This will be the last day to use any Customer reward cards. Cards may be combined, but no more than 3.
- July 28th – Begin phased store liquidation. All merchandise in the store will be discounted 20% from MSRP. All special orders will be discounted 10%. (food and beverage will not be discounted)
- August 1st – We will be closed on Sundays from here on out
- August 18th – This will be the last day to make any special orders.
- August 22nd – This will be the last day to redeem any unused gift certificates.
- August 27th – Lockers need to be cleaned out
- August 28th – Last day
I know there will be questions, so please post them on the forum and I will try to respond as promptly as I can. In addition we will continue to keep the forums alive indefinitely to allow everyone to still stay connected.
Don’t stop gaming.
